DIY HALLOWEEN GHOSTS WITH LACE AND EMBROIDERY HOOPS

After making my DIY HERB DRYING RACK WITH EMBROIDERY HOOPS earlier this summer I still had some thrifted lace fabric leftover and wanted to use it to make some cute DIY ghosts for Halloween decorations. These airy and whimsical ghosts are made with embroidery hoops, lace fabric and some black felt for their faces.

These Halloween ghosts are so easy to make and look really cute and charming. You can make them in any size you would like and decorate them with some string lights inside for a spooky glow or just leave them as is. I kept mine plain with just a face, but you could also give them some accessories like bows and ties to make them a bit more playful.

This is a great and simple DIY project to make with the whole family to add some whimsy to your home this Halloween season using some thrifted fabric and embroidery hoops you might already have at home. You can hang them into your windows, on your door or wall, or in a tree outside to make these cute lace ghosts float.

TIPS TO MAKE THE PERFECT HALLOWEEN GHOSTS WITH LACE AND EMBROIDERY HOOPS

Enjoy the creative process just as much as the end result. Let go of any fixed ideas and be open to incorporate new materials or some you might already have at home.

Gather everything, you will need in advance to avoid interrupting your creative flow.

You can sew on your felt eyes with some black thread and a sewing needle or use some double-sided tape to make it super simple.

Use multiple layers of fabric if it’s very thin, like the thrifted lace fabric I used.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

embroidery hoops
lace or other thin white fabric
clear elastic string or ribbon
black felt
black thread and sewing needle or double-sided tape
scissors

INSTRUCTIONS STEP BY STEP

Gather all your materials you will need.

Open up your embroidery hoops.

Cut your lace fabric into the desired length and keep in mind that you have to double it up in order to slide one part of the embroidery hoop. I suggest making it about two to three times the length of your embroidery hoop. If you use really sheer fabric I would use multiple layers of fabric.

Fold your lace fabric in half and slip the embroidery hoop into the middle all the way to the top.

Fasten the top of the hoop to the lace with a piece of clear elastic string or ribbon making a small loop and pulling it through the loop on the other side.

Cut out oval shaped eyes using some black felt and scissors.

Stitch the eyes onto the ghost using a sewing needle and black thread or use double sided tape if you’d prefer.

Find the perfect spot for your new Halloween ghosts and enjoy!
